MY JOURNEY

(to Date)

I’m Ashira Jones (she/her), founder of Perfect Ten Coaching. I help wildly ambitious clients feel like a worthy Wonder Woman – even while you wait.

Back when I finished undergrad, like many young women, I had a pretty specific idea of the milestones I wanted to achieve. Grad school, career, marriage, kid, house, dog… the happily ever after!

When I think about my 22-year-old self, I realized that most of my milestones were based on outdated societal expectations. I thought I was on the path to living my best life. But it didn’t take long to realize that the unrealistic path I was on had essentially been prescribed to me – and it just didn’t fit who I really was.

As time passed, that idea of happily ever after seemed further away. I landed job after job that didn’t materialize into the “dream job”.  I didn’t get married or have kids. I was constantly (and mostly poorly) managing my anxiety and depression. Time after time and disappointment after disappointment, I realized the endless barriers in the way of achieving society’s so-called perfect life. What I didn’t realize at the time is that one of those barriers was me! As I saw others in my social circle begin ticking off milestones I also thought I’d have for myself, I felt alone, isolated, and not sure who to turn to.

After coaching many other wildy ambitious women, I now know that I wasn’t the only one to feel this way.

One day, I realized that I’d been waiting around for those milestone moments – and I’d fallen out of love with my own life. I was still single, but I wasn’t enjoying the freedom it gave me. I was the only one who could actively create my new reality, and take responsibility for my career, my happiness, and my sense of self-worth. Nobody was coming to save me and there was an amazing life just waiting for me.

What a revelation it was when she realized she didn’t need to settle.

As soon as I had that realization, some pretty awesome things fell into place:

  • I earned my ICF credentialed coaching certificate from The Coaches Training Institute—the coaching school that ignited my spirit and evolved my business.

  • I launched Perfect Ten, a resume writing business turned coaching practice that gave me an outlet for my entrepreneurial ambition while empowering those around me in their life ambitions.

  • I quit my job and took a 7-month sabbatical while giving myself permission to reflect, refocus, and reconnect with my values in the name of radical self-care.

  • I moved from Nebraska to Florida, Florida to Maryland and Maryland to N. Virginia where I knew (almost) no one in each state!

  • I continually design and refine my life to include work and relationships that align with my values of freedom, growth, courage, beauty, connection, and gratitude.

Today, I get immense satisfaction from helping other women find the same sense of purpose and self-worth I found.  My journey, the stories I’ve collected from women just like you, combined with my extensive ICF credentialed coach training has helped me design the powerful coaching experience I wish I had many years ago.

As wildly ambitious women who dance to the beat of our own drum, we face unique challenges, where we’re often misunderstood by family, friends, and society as a whole. And we’re each in our corner thinking we have to go it alone, when we could all benefit from a like-minded sisterhood and the support we need to thrive.

The clients I support are ambitious, diverse women who just “get” you. I don’t want fear to prevent talented women like you from experiencing the fullness of a life lived on purpose. I’ve forged myself in fire to be the coach who understands and has the tools to support you.

You, too, can decide to focus on making the most of NOW.
